APEX believes each child can change their school and world in a profound way. APEX is a week long character building program that brings encouragement and enthusiasm to the classroom to build our future leaders. APEX Athletes turn teachers into coaches that lead activities and get the students ready to face in any obstacle that may come their way.  The students at the end of the week will get to participate in an inflatable obstacle course, while also raising money for the school.

"GET TO KNOW YOUR TEACHER"

PTA implemented this fun new program whereby students get to interview their teachers! The students come up with the questions themselves and conduct the interview with a PTA Board Member present to catch it all on video. The student then transcribes the interview for print in our local Eldorado Neighborhood Magazine. This program was started to foster communication skills in our students, such as structure of thoughts, poise, speech delivery, and public speaking skills.  Additionally by asking them to transcribe their interview for print in the local magazine, we hope to promote confidence in their writing skills.

Difference Awareness - Celebrate Me Day

Celebrate Me Day increases students understanding of and compassion for students who have physical, mental, and/or learning impairments.  Volunteers prepare activities and present to students during station rotations.

Cougar Runners Club + Marathon Kids         

Marathon Kids works for any kid, at any fitness level. Kids set their goals and track their progress on a journey to complete four marathons, or 104.8 miles, over the course of the running club season. They run, walk, (or skip!) one lap at a time, one day at a time, and before they know it they’ve gone farther than they ever dreamed.

Cougar Dads

Despite its name, the Cougar Dads members are fathers, step-fathers, uncles, grandfathers, teachers, and other father figures who serve VC Elementary. No experience or tools are necessary! 

Research shows that when fathers and father figures are engaged in children’s education, student grades and test scores improve, attendance increases and students are more involved in school activities.
